️⃣ HRT is safe for most women and is the first-line treatment for peri/menopause symptoms (NICE NG23, British Menopause Society).
️⃣ Breast cancer risk associated with HRT has not been linked to increased breast cancer deaths — in fact, women diagnosed with breast cancer while on HRT have shown lower mortality and recurrence than those not on it (NICE NG23 evidence review).
️⃣ A family history of breast cancer does not automatically rule out HRT — it's about individualized risk assessment with your doctor (BMS / EMAS guidance).
️⃣ Women with a personal history of breast cancer can often still use vaginal estrogen for genitourinary symptoms, as reccomeneded by their oncology team (BMS/NICE NG23).
️⃣ The heart and bone benefits associated with HRT use are well established; brain health research is still emerging (Cochrane review via NICE NG23; BMS).
️⃣ Ask your doctor about body-identical transdermal estradiol and micronised progesterone — considered the gold standard (BMS, E3N cohort data).
️⃣ Find a doctor who actually knows menopause matters.
